Our journey to creating Matai Huka is as much a story of family legacy as it is a reflection of our passion for hosting and hospitality. Nestled in a serene rural landscape, the Lincoln’s have been associated with the property since 1953. Once a working sheep farm, its paddocks, stockyards, and open fields carry a rich agricultural history, each corner holding echoes of the past and a rustic charm that continues to shape the land today.

Inspired by this deep family connection, we saw an opportunity to reimagine the farm as a retreat that honours its roots while welcoming others into its quiet magic. What began as a cherished family property has grown into a place where guests can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature, surrounded by native bush, endless skies, and the morning songs of tūī and bellbirds.

This same natural beauty and sense of tranquility also make Matai Huka an extraordinary place for celebrations. Set amongst beautiful native bush beneath the Kapiti Coast hills, Matai Huka Garden Weddings offers a romantic and intimate setting designed to bring wedding visions to life. Our grounds provide a picturesque backdrop for both ceremonies and receptions, complemented by the option of a marquee, curated local suppliers such as florists, photographers, and caterers, and a charming boutique cottage perfect for a honeymoon stay. With our complete Wedding Package, couples can enjoy a seamless experience where the details are thoughtfully arranged and the day unfolds effortlessly.

Beyond the retreat and garden venue, Matai Huka serves as a gateway to the wider Kāpiti region. We love sharing the richness of our community, from artisan markets to coastal trails, and encouraging guests to explore the people and places that make this area so special.

At its heart, Matai Huka is a celebration of place, of family roots and natural beauty, and of caring for what is close to home. Through mindful stewardship and a genuine love for hosting, we hope to offer not just accommodation or a venue, but a sense of belonging to something real, lasting, and deeply connected.
