Vendor Voices: Q&A with Stolyn Beauty
Author: Jamie Quinn
- By Jamie Quinn
Glowing skin is on the top of a bride’s non-negotiables list leading up to the wedding. Healthy skin is an investment and needs to be tackled from the inside out.
Amanda, owner of Stolyn Beauty, has been helping people with their confidence through skin transformations for over four years. Stolyn Beauty specialises in DMK skincare, a paramedical brand that promotes skin health at the cellular level.
What do you love most about working in the skin and beauty industry, and how long have you been a professional?
I’ve been in the industry for 4+ years now, and my passion is constantly growing. What I love most is having the ability to help people from all walks of life feel more confident and happier in their own skin, whether it’s from a full skin revision program or a simple lash or brow tint. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive energy radiate from my clients as they leave my space.
Tell us about DMK skincare and how it is different from other treatments.
DMK Skin is a paramedical skincare brand that utilises pure botanical ingredients to bring harmony and balance back into dysfunctioning skin. The difference between DMK and other products or treatments is they work on the surface of the skin, whereas DMK works with the direct cells at a dermal level within the skin to make a positive, long-lasting change. As paramedical therapists, we also take an in-depth look into your skin and well-being to understand fully what’s causing these conditions you may be struggling with. Gut health, hormonal health, stress, sleep, etc, are all aspects of life that have a contributing factor to your skin.
Can you walk us through your daily skincare routine?
My daily skincare routine is made up of only DMK homecare products with ingredients to support my skin’s barrier and health of my cells but also encourage my skin to heal the last remaining acne scarring and texture I have. I change up my skincare routine seasonally, but my foundation is made up of the Enbioment cleanser, a probiotic cleanser to support my skin’s microbiome, and Beta Gel, an incredible serum to support my skin’s immune system and healing. Herb & Mineral Spray, a toner full of all the vitamins and minerals the skin needs to keep ultimate health. Revitosin, a superior blend of vitamin A’s that I use twice a week to balance my skin’s oil flow & blemishes. Acu Masque, my all-time favourite clay mask that has so many benefits, I also use it once a week. EFA Ultra, a supplement to support my skin, nails, and internal health, contains all the vitamins, minerals, omegas, and essential fatty acids that your body needs. Soleil Protect SPF, non-negotiable! Every day, rain, hail or shine.
Which treatments do you recommend for brides wanting to glow on their wedding day, and why?
DMK Enzyme Therapy, Muscle Banding specifically. This is the signature DMK Treatment for so many reasons. Highly recommended for the bride and groom. Increases circulation of the lymphatic system and blood flow to detoxify the skin of any build-ups and supply all the cells with the right nutrition they need. Stimulating the enzymes within our skin to remove any dead cell build-up, resulting in bright, plump, glowing skin. The Muscle Banding technique is able to strengthen and lift facial muscles, supplying amino acids to support healthy muscles and stimulating collagen & elastin production, giving you the lift and bounce you both need for the special day.
How soon should brides be thinking about their wedding day skincare?
Anywhere as early as 3-6 months before the wedding, even a year before. The healthier your skin, the better your skin will glow and the more flawless your makeup will look and last throughout your special day. Also, allowing plenty of time to revise any skin concerns like pigmentation or scarring is important. Taking into consideration healthy lifestyle habits to not only look your best but feel your best, e.g. keeping hydration levels up, managing stress levels, and eating a balanced diet.
Skincare and healthy habits are just as important for the Groom. This is a special day, and the photos will last a lifetime. I recently got engaged, and my fiancé will definitely be in the treatment room for some Enzyme Therapy. His skin will be radiant for our special day.
What is the biggest skincare hack you refuse to gatekeep?
Ice sculpting is as simple as grabbing an ice cube from your freezer or purchasing your own ice globe. Gliding it over your skin for no more than 10 minutes (the first step in your morning skincare routine is best), the results and benefits are amazing! It reduces redness and puffiness, especially around the eye area, tightens pore size, reduces oiliness and breakouts, and encourages collagen production, leaving you with a healthy glow! And it’s FREE!!
Be careful not to overdo it, though. Excessive exposure to cold temperatures can damage healthy, functioning skin cells.
